About Back Ignition
The Sound
Back Ignition is a metal band founded by self-taught musician Wouter Merks. In 2026, after writing and recording the tracks entirely on his own throughout 2025, Wouter released the band's first demo album, titled The Door Punch Demos. Featuring instrumental versions of these first original songs, the release set the tone for future albums and served as the foundation to recruit the right musicians for the band.
Wouter Merks
Born in 2001, Wouter grew up surrounded by music. His father took him to a Rolling Stones concert for his first live experience at the age of six, igniting a deep love for live music early on. From that moment on, he dreamed of performing on stage. After playing the drums for a few years, an electric guitar quickly became his most-wanted birthday gift. Following years of dedication, he founded Back Ignition, channeling his love for heavy music into original songs with a focus on keeping its music pure and honest in this digital age.
